Strategi Pengembangan Padi Organik Berkelanjutan dalam Mewujudkan Ketahanan Pangan Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu Timur

Sustainable organic rice farming is essential for strengthening food security, improving farmers’ economic welfare, and preserving environmental sustainability. This study aims to examine the internal and external factors affecting the development of sustainable organic rice farming and to formulate appropriate development strategies in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. A survey method was employed involving 70 respondents selected based on their knowledge and participation in organic rice farming development. Data were analyzed using SWOT analysis by identifying, weighting, and rating internal and external strategic factors. The findings indicate that key strengths include extensive agricultural land, favorable soil conditions, farmers’ experience, local government support, and sufficient agricultural labor. Major weaknesses consist of limited farmer knowledge, high organic certification costs, inadequate marketing, relatively low productivity during the initial implementation period, and limited adoption of modern technology. Opportunities include rising demand for organic rice, increasing consumer awareness of healthy food, government support programs, potential access to modern and export markets, and advances in environmentally friendly agricultural technologies. Threats include pest attacks, climate change, competition from conventional rice, relatively high organic rice prices, agricultural land conversion, and unstable rice prices. SWOT analysis places organic rice development in Quadrant I, indicating an aggressive growth strategy. Therefore, development should prioritize increasing production, strengthening farmer capacity and institutions, expanding market access, adopting environmentally friendly technologies, and enhancing government support to achieve sustainable food security in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency.
