Abstract

Globalization has significantly influenced social and cultural dynamics, particularly the sustainability of local cultures. The rapid flow of information, technological advancement, and the penetration of global values potentially erode traditional cultural identities if not accompanied by adaptive preservation strategies. This study aims to analyze the forms, challenges, and strategies of local cultural preservation amid globalization, emphasizing the roles of education, community participation, and public policy. This research adopts a qualitative approach using a systematic literature review of reputable national and international journal articles related to local cultural preservation. Data were analyzed through descriptive-analytical and thematic synthesis methods to identify patterns, trends, and research gaps. The findings reveal that preserving local culture can be achieved through strengthening local wisdom, multicultural education, digital technology utilization, and community-based cultural empowerment. Furthermore, globalization is not inherently destructive but can serve as a space for cultural dialogue and adaptation when strategically managed. This study concludes that an integrative approach involving government, society, and educational institutions is essential to ensure the sustainability of local cultural identities in the global context.
