Abstract

Local history narratives play a strategic role in humanities education as they embody cultural values, collective identity, and historical experiences of communities. This article aims to comprehensively analyze the potential of local history narratives of the Lombok community as a source of humanities learning within formal education. This study employs a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review design, examining national and international journal articles related to local history, Sasak local wisdom, and humanities education. Data were collected through academic database searches and analyzed using thematic-critical analysis. The findings reveal that Lombok’s local history narratives—encompassing cultural traditions, religious rituals, historical sites, traditional games, and social practices—significantly contribute to strengthening students’ understanding of humanistic values, cultural identity, and historical consciousness. The integration of local history narratives enhances learning relevance, fosters critical thinking, and supports character development rooted in local values. This study concludes that local history narratives of the Lombok community represent a contextual and transformative source for humanities education and should be systematically integrated into curricula and pedagogical practices
