Abstract

This study aims to explore the transformation of traditional values in Indonesian literature for the millennial generation. In the context of globalization and digitalization, millennials are experiencing a shift in their perspectives on cultural, moral, social, and spiritual values. This study emphasizes how literature, in its various forms—novels, poetry, pantun, gurindam, wayang, and oral literature—becomes an important medium in transmitting traditional values while adapting to the dynamics of modern life. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach, literary content analysis, and digital observation. Data were collected from literary texts, scientific articles, and observations of digital media use and millennial reader interactions on online platforms. Thematic analysis was used to identify representations of traditional values, moral adaptations, and how they are received and interpreted by millennials. The results show that traditional values remain relevant but have undergone adaptations to suit the experiences and preferences of the younger generation. Moral values such as honesty, responsibility, patience, and hard work are maintained, while social and cultural values are transformed through digital media to make them more engaging and accessible. Modern literature also serves as a bridge between character education, cultural identity, and strengthening national identity. This research emphasizes the importance of integrating tradition, technology, and character education in maintaining cultural values. Indonesian literature from the millennial generation demonstrates high flexibility and adaptability, opening up opportunities for cultural revitalization, character formation, and the development of a national identity relevant to the modern era.
